Alexandra's Art BECKon's You (& a Giveaway!)

There's a new artist on my radar, and I'm dying to score one of her pieces to beautify my walls. Born and raised in Austin, Alexandra Beck has been painting contemporary abstract art since 2003. Typically mixed media or acrylic on canvas, I especially love her use of gold leafing on top of cool colors. Each of her pieces is uniquely crafted, using several techniques such as hand application, gravity dripping, brush strokes, splattering..you name it! Her vibrant art has already been featured in several trendy blogs (like Pink Memo & Korcula) and has been showcased in a variety of galleries and boutiques throughout the years. Currently a Dallas girl, Alexandra will be making her Houston debut this August.

Represented by Merritt Beck Media, you can visit Alexandra and her art at the "Houston Show Your heART" Expo on August 28-29th, 2010 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Como escolher o tom certo da base???

Olá meninas. tudo bem?  Hoje vamos falar de maquiagem, especificamente da base. Um pequeno tutorial com dicas para ninguém errar mais na escolha do tom  de sua base, eu penei pra achar o tom certo da minha, finalmente encontrei uma da Tracta no tom Mèdio, que fica excelente em mim...agora, vamos as dicas:

Importante! As bases de maquigaem não são para parecer bronzeada, elas servem para uniformizar o tom. Portanto, nunca use uma base mais escura que o tom da sua pele, fica terrível, é como se você estivesse usando uma máscara e todo mundo nota. Escolha sempre uma base que tenha um tom mais clarinho que a sua pele, assim com certeza você vai acertar.

A melhor parte para experimentar a maquiagem é o próprio rosto (claro!). Pegue um pouco da base e espelhe embaixo, no contorno do rosto e um pouco na bochecha e se ela se misurar como tom da pele, então é a cor correta. Muita gente tem o costume de experimentar nas mãos, isto é um erro! A pele das mãos é diferente da do rosto, portanto, não faça isto.

Uma recomendação: quando você for comprar a base, não vá maquiada, assim vai poder experimentar o produto no rosto, sem medo. Peça ajuda a funcionária da loja para que ela lhe mostre os tons que mais se aproximam da sua pele. E finalmente, se você não estiver muito segura em relação a cor, peça para usar a maquiagem por um dia (às vezes elas tem amostras ou até maquiam ali mesmo na loja) e se você gostar, compre.

Penteados para noivas!!!

Olá meninas, encerrando o mês das noivas, um post com algumas dicas para penteados. Existem vários looks para essa ocasião e a escolha deve ser feita com bastante antecedência, com um profissional que vc conheça e confie, também é importante vc optar por um penteado que combine com seu rosto, porém o mais importate é vc se sentir bem.

Rosto Redondo: Escolha um penteado com volume no topo da cabeça. Evite o cabelo armado porque ele dá a sensação de rosto mais cheio ainda.

Rosto Oval: Permite quase todo tipo de penteado. Escolha o que você mais gostar!

Rosto Quadrado: Evite cortes curtos ou penteados presos. Penteados que deixam o cabelo mais cheio ficará muito bem em você.

Rosto Triangular: Use mexas soltas para suavizar o queixo fino.

New Product: Vintage Bow Tie Headbands

I came across some very cute vintage bow ties from the 40's and 50's awhile back and I just thought they were cute as can be!  Sweet little bows in fun patterns and colors, sadly the clips on the back were rusty and oxidized.  So, I thought about how I could repurpose them into a new, fun accessory...headbands seemed like the perfect fit!  I debuted these at the Unique LA show and they were a big hit.  Now you can buy them in our online shop.

WIP Metro Stroller

I was starting to think that the WIP Metro was just another concept stroller that would never see a sales floor. But after four years in development, I just received word from the company's PR department that the stroller will soon be available. It will feature a stunning retro design rendered in thoroughly  modern materials.

If you saw a list of just the materials used you would assume that it was a racing bicycle or another piece of sporting equipment. The frame is made of lightweight ERGAL aluminum alloy tubing. While the components that compose the patented folding mechanism are made of IXEF fiberglass reinforced techno-polymer.  And there are three magnesium alloy wheels with centralized brakes. I wasn't joking when I said high tech.
