Houston Fatto a Mano

Here's a fun and funky art installation event today for the artsy readers in the crowd:

The Houston Fatto a Mano for the Future event with Aranda\Lasch is on Wednesday, April 20, 2-8 pm in our FENDI Houston Galleria boutique.

FENDI introduces a unique design project with architect duo, Aranda\Lasch, Modern Primitives, which evolves from a concept that was recently implemented at Design Miami 2010.

The upcoming Houston event is particularly interesting to the Houston market because Ben Aranda, one of the principles of Aranda\Lasch, grew up in Houston. Ben was born and raised in Houston and is returning to the homefront to share his latest design project with his fellow Houston natives. Ben may have left Houston for the big city, but he definitely still has classic Houston heart.

Modern Primitives debuted at Venice Biennale 2010 where Aranda\Lasch were the only American architects honored. The exhibition continued at Design Miami in December 2010 as the abstract yet functional structures were transformed from their original forms at Venice Biennale into pieces draped with fur and Selleria leather covers created by Silvia Venturini Fendi, a testament to FENDI’s artisanal touch. The organic partnership between FENDI and Aranda\Lasch is an effort to visualize the culmination and advancements in combining old world craftsmanship and modern day techniques, which results in the form of a Modern Primitive.

Continuing the interactive experience of the installation, attendees will be invited to a limited edition design opportunity with the option to create, customize, and purchase their very own Modern Primitive piece via a specially designed interactive iPad application.

I know you dislike this pattern, but I liiiiiiiiike!  It's cross body, isn't plain but doesn't have the logo blazing everywhere, and is big enough (though I'd prefer the length to be a bit longer).  Prob won't purchase, though, because I've been waitingwaitingwaiting for my vtg dvf for so long, and can't really afford to get something else this month!  Wooo self-discipline (but not really).

A -- 1/20/11: Yup, don't like that pattern!  It looks so old and gloomy, altho I guess there is a certain appeal in that.  Really good price for now, what's our max?

T, 1/25/11: Ended at $53, with 26 bids.  Since I'm feeling maj jew, $20ish is about as high as I'll go.

Okay, I know you dislike this, but I always wanted something with a pattern without gaudy logo repetition.  Two concerns: (1) looking for big, but this may be TOO big; and (2) high shipping, which, I guess because of the large size, almost makes sense.  Doubt this'll stay low anyway, considering track record, but I'll keep watch.  This is low on the list v. my DVF shirt dress and Chanel wallet (lol, isn't the blog awesome that I can refer to other things and not have to link you?!).

No max listed, as I prob won't bid because purse is too big.  Just wanted to watch to see how much these stupid big bags go for.

A -- 10/21/10: I thought you wanted/liked big purses.  You're right, I don't like it, but maybe it will look different "on" much like clothes do.  LOL photoshop it onto a pic of urself holding a purse so I can see!!

T, 10/21/10: Think I "tried on" some 17"+ handbags and looked ridic.  The bag is structured and will accentuate the bigness.  I realize I have a sz limit for bags without looking stupid, haha.

T, 10/24/10: 13 bids, $57.  Haven't seen a big Fendi go for so low . . . maybe I should've bid, but yeah, too big.  So maybe I should stop being so picky . . .
