Heidi Klum To Design Maternity

A Pea In The Pod has teamed up with Heidi Klum for another designer maternity line. Klum, supermodel and Project Runway host, will be designing for the company's main line and the more affordable Motherhood Maternity. Lavish is a 15 piece collection for A Pea In The Pod.

"I chose to call my collection for A Pea in the Pod Lavish because there is no grander name to express everything you want to give yourself and the child growing within you," Klum said of Lavish. We all know that it because the pieces will costs more. The dress above will cost $128. The Loved collection has 14 pieces and will be priced for a more mass market.

Both collections will be available in stores and online February 12. I just hope that it is a better collection than the Nicole Ritchie collection. Those pieces looked like Nicole Ritchie would never wear them.

Atelier Minyon

Last month, I had a really cool experience that I absolutely have to share. I received an email from Erin O'Sullivan, an adorable friend in New York who works for an out-of- this-world jewelry company called Atelier Minyon. Although the company was originally founded in 1970 by two Turkish families, they've just this past year opened their first U.S. location in Soho (In fact, they just celebrated their 1st anniversary a couple of weeks ago - Congrats guys!). Erin was flying into Houston the next day, and asked if I'd like to come play dress up with some of their jewelry collections. Twist my arm.

First of all, every piece is custom crafted by hand, making them all unique one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Erin only had a fraction of the collections with her, but I noticed something immediately: Toto, we aren't in Kansas anymore. This was not your typical jewelry company. There are different collections for all tastes and styles. They run the gamut from wild, extravagant and exotic, to dark and gothic, and landing softly in delicate and understated. I have never seen designs like this in my entire life.


Of course I had some favorites in the crowd. I fell in love with the wedding bracelets in the Duvak collection (left) that are hand-woven with 22k gold. I also loved the brilliant colors of the Tudor Rose Collection (seen at top of page), and the Truva rings (seen below).



I could really fill this entire blog with jewelry photographs, but instead, over the next month I will sneak in Atelier Minyon pieces that I love here and there. Can't wait? You can find all of their collections here.

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year. I am really excited about what is in store for 2010, both personally and with Salvage Life. 2009 brought a lot of change, starting with the birth of my daughter and then trying to adjust to motherhood and business ownership. R is almost 1 year old and we have both grown in leaps and bounds.

I am planning to share a bit more about my plans for 2010 soon, but first I want to show you some photos of our Holiday Sale taken by Julianna Cementina. Huge thanks to Julie, the owner of The Vintage Emporium for hosting our sale. It was so much fun!

Get your tails in the attic

Houston dwellers have a small, indistinct window of time when they can work in the attic or garage without suffocating. Although this week will be nippy, winter is the perfect time! While you are putting away those holiday decorations, sort thru boxes, purge, donate that weird Santa doll that scares the kids, re-categorize and store. Now how to get rid of that other garage/attic junk you forgot you even had? Donate to charities or put your extras up on www.freecycle.org . Someone else will take it off your hands. Believe me; somebody might actually want that kitty cat toilet training kit.

I love mornings when...

...I get to work from home. I can wear these with reckless abandon, dance a jig around my office, take 15 minute doggie kiss breaks, and still manage to get more work done than I would on a normal day.

Belated Happy New Year!! I'm finally back from my holiday vacation, and I am seriously pumped for this upcoming year. There's some big stuff on the horizon, and I can't wait to share it with all of you.
