Salvage Life Bride: Mary Jane

My brother Steve asked his lovely girlfriend Camille (one of my best friends and trusty Salvage Life helper) to marry him and she asked me to be her Matron of Honor.  I am so thrilled and I have had weddings on the brain everyday and sometimes in the middle of the night, ever since.  So when I got these enchanting photos from my customer, Mary Jane, of her special day, I was inspired by her down to earth wedding, filled with the people who love her most.

Here's what she said about the dress when she first bought it:
"I've been hunting for a frock for months, haunting Montreal's (distressingly few) vintage clothing shops and trying on so many styles that I've lost both track and heart.   Then I chanced upon your site and experienced one of those heart-stopping moments - the dress looks wonderful!"

A little more about her wedding :
"Persian-Filipino Sunday brunch wedding on Sept 19, 2010 in the little town of Saint-Agnes-de-Dundee, Quebec.   Lovely Indian summer day with 90 of our closest friends and family, many of whom made the 90 min drive from Montreal to be part of our special day!    A short ceremony (many tears!) was followed by refreshments outside where the kiddies ran shrieking through be-ribboned trees while their parents lounged on hay bales and took photos in and around the huge barn nearby.    Then it was on to brunch!  A mix of traditional brunch fare (our Belgian waffle lady was kept very busy indeed) and Persian and Filipino desserts supplied by our families.  My handsome new husband, Sohrab, and I were amazed at how quickly it all flew by.   Before we knew it, the brunch was done, and we scooted out with our photographer to catch sunset on beautiful Lac St-Francois.   It was a truly magical day! "
Thanks so much Mary Jane!  Congratulations!  We wish you and Sohrab the very best!

Once In a Blue Moon

This rarely happens to vintage shop owners, but when it does it is VERY exciting...A few years ago there was a beautiful 70's gown that I used in a photo shoot and sold quickly thereafter.  It was featured in Vintage Indie's Wedding Guide and I have gotten countless emails over the years about this dress.  Recently, I stumbled upon the exact same dress on one of my buying trips.  It actually had burgundy ribbon instead of the blue in the first photo, but I removed it.  This is the perfect dress for a vintage style wedding! Now available in the Shop.

A Dreamy Vintage Wedding in Venice

When I package up a wedding dress and send it off, I feel so excited and I dream of the pretty lady that will be wearing it on her special day.  Though never in my dreams have I imagined a bride looking this beautiful and the backdrop of her wedding being more romantic.  An outdoor wedding in Venice...amazing!!!  She wore a lovely bolero and sash over the dress which I think dressed it up a bit for the ceremony, then later you can see the lace sleeves which are also very sweet.  After the wedding Sarah sent me these photos with a wonderful email, her words:

"Thanks very much Beth!
It turned out to be a truly magical wedding. I felt beautiful in my vintage dress! The guys walked through the streets of Venice and the girls arrived by boat to meet at the Campo de L'Abazia. The ceremony was simple, followed by photographs and champagne. Then we found ourselves part of an impromptu parade as we walked from the Campo to the dinner venue, with well wishes from strangers speaking italian and everyone clapping!!!"

I am so thrilled that Salvage Life was a part of Sarah's fabulous wedding and I wish her the most wonderful life with her new husband!
