Pink Ribbon and Lollipops

For the final wedding post, I wanted to do a little post on what Ruby wore.  I was so excited when Steve and Camille asked Ruby to be the flower girl.  After finding several vintage dresses in different colors, we landed on this yellow one, which you may remember from my photo shoot for Cakies.  I switched out the black ribbon for pink and it was perfect.  She had a little metal pail for flower petals, but when we couldn't get the kids to walk down, we gave them lollipops and it ended up looking so cute!  My favorite picture from the wedding is the one of Steve and Ruby dancing, it makes my heart melt.

Handmade Flags, Jones Soda and Little Pies

For the third installment of Steve and Camille's wedding, I will share what we did for the decor.  The centerpieces featured vintage books, tea cup, frames, handmade flags and wildflowers.  We didn't get a great photo of the centerpieces on the day of the wedding because it was so windy, so I included one of the sample we did.  They had a Polaroid guestbook under a gazebo where people could write on an instant photo which would later be made into a book.  The wedding favors were Jones (their last name) Sodas which doubled as place cards, cute huh?  Dinner was a build-your-own crepe bar by Crepes Bonaparte.  Instead of cake there were individual pies in four flavors and one large one for the bride and groom.

Floral Bridesmaid Dresses and a Broken Shoe

For wedding post number two, we have the bridal party, yay!
I had nothing to do with the boy's clothing but all of the bridesmaid dresses were vintage from Salvage Life.  I started a collection of miscellaneous 1950's floral cotton dresses that matched Camille's specifications and then each girl came for a fitting and numbered the dresses from their top pick and so on.  Amazingly, no one had the same dress as their number one, so every girl got their first pick!
It was crazy windy the day of the wedding, so our hair was blowing all around.  And my shoe broke, hence why I am not jumping in the second to last photo (I did try, but I must not have jumped very high).  I forgot to take any pictures of just my dress, so you can't see it super close, but it was the prettiest blue floral, I will certainly wear it again.

Rip Off the Sleeves and Make it One Of a Kind

This is the first of four posts this week featuring my brother, Stephen's wedding at the end of April...finally!  I had the pleasure of helping with a lot of the wedding details.  In this post, you can see the dress my new sister-in-law, Camille, wore.  She looked so beautiful, and Stephen looked so in-love.  It was a vintage dress from the 1970's, a Gunne Sax style dress, that we completely redesigned with the help of a seamstress.  It was the third dress she tried on from my shop and like a scene out of a movie, we ripped the sleeves off right there and we knew it was the one! We then had a seamstress reconstruct the bodice to be one shouldered, isn't it dreamy?

Bride to Be Wears Salvage Life

I got so many comments, emails and tweets yesterday in regards to my "dissatisfaction" post.  It is nice to know that I am not alone in my feelings and that it was a good reminder for many.  Let's continue to encourage each other in this journey.  Today's post is a perfect follow up to that discussion.  Sometimes when you sell online, you feel detached from your customers because you just send the items off and never meet the new owner.  Every now and then, you have a lovely customer like Kelly Lavelle, who bought a dress from our shop for her engagement shoot and just sent me the photos. Such a cute and quirky shoot, they are adorable!  The dress looks fantastic on her!  Her mom hemmed the dress and used the extra fabric to make a sash.  I am so blessed to provide clothing to stylish girls like this and especially during such an important time of life.  All photos by Maria Vicencio Photography, if you click on the link you can see more photos in other fun vintage dresses.

New Vintage Shop Fixtures

Setting up my studio and shop space is a lot more work then I thought!  It is like furnishing and decorating an entire house.  I am trying to work in it before it is all set up, so I can get an idea of what works and what doesn't before I make my final decisions of placing and spacing.  Being indecisive is definitely a disadvantage to me right now, I have done the same thing at home for years - I am always so afraid to put a nail in the wall, it feels so permanent.  That is silly though, it's nothing a little putty and paint can't fix!
Here are some of the latest things I have acquired for the shop and I am pretty excited about them!
Console table, made to look vintage from Homegoods.  I love this because it is super light so I can transport it to shows with me.
Large industrial metal shelving unit, maybe from a locker room originally.  I bought this at a local antique store.
Fabulous antique dresser in the best color combo! Bought at the flea market in the rain last weekend.  I have it on fuzzy feet so I can move it around and see where it looks best.
Extra large mirror purchased at Homegoods, if you haven't been there it's great!  It's discounted "home goods" from other stores, like a TJMaxx for the home.
I could not believe that this antique garment rack wasn't sold when I found it at the flea market at 2pm!!! I cannot tell you how many garment racks I have seen after they just sold, I guess the rain was on my side that day.  Also this comes apart for travel!

New Vintage Coming This Week

This week I will be adding some bold dresses, bohemian bags and a couple vintage belts to the shop.  Here's a little peak.  I just got this industrial metal shelf for the shop, tomorrow I'll show some other new store fixtures that I purchased.  It is coming together slowly, but surely!
