Anthropologie Precious Poppy Cardigan

~$50 (on sale, retail $129)

On the way home from Pismo Beach w/the parents last week, we stopped for lunch at Santa Barbara, and checked out some of the cutesy lil shops, where I wound up making my very first purchase from Anthropologie.

Sidebar: I know this store has been around since forever, and (esp in college/the first couple of years after), every girl seemed to be in LOVE w/the place, but I never understood it!  Girls would talk reverently about how INCREDIBLY ADORABLE everything in the store is, and how very chic all the outfits are, and how omgIhadtobuysomuchstuffthere, but I could NEVER UNDERSTAND IT.  To me, the clothes/mannequin outfits always looked like a slightly softer version of an LDS farm.  No really, take a moment and picture the clothes...now picture the unauthorized pictures taken from police raids on those compounds.  IT'S THE SAME.

For some reason, I *really* liked this cardi.  At first glance, it seems to be the physical embodiment of everything I do NOT wear: flowery, pastel, girly.  And yet, I was drawn to it, probably for the very exaggeration that makes it look a lil crazy.  Plus, it makes my face look like it's surrounded by a field of flowers, and that makes me feel like a prettypretty princess =)

T, 1/6/11:  LOL, LDS farm!!!  I tend to gravitate toward prarie stuff too . . . but yeah, was never a huge fan of Anthro either.

These pics, blown up + showing detail, are better than the one you first showed me.  Actually like it a lot more seeing it now than before.  You're right -- it's def not something I would've expected you to get, but that shows growth/expansion/diversity and all that stuff we strive for (not only in fashion, but in life), right?  Great deal, too.
