Peacock Love

I shared some of my peacock collection with you a while back. Here are a few more inspiring images.

Salvage Life featured on LUXEDELUX

Several years back while Salvage Life was in the works, I had a job designing window displays for a local vintage home furnishings and children's boutique. There I made friends with Tiara, who was the PR Intern. She has since moved on to bigger and better things and just featured SL on her blog. You can see the post HERE.

Have a Little Faith

Items from Faith 21's new line

Apparently 60% of women 18 or over are wearing size 12-plus, yet most fashion stores only stock items up to a size 12/14 max. With "plus size" fashion being an under served yet highly in-demand market, Forever 21 is stepping up to the plate and launching their new line called Faith 21 for women size 12 and over. As a side note I can't understand why being a size 12 is considered "plus size". I'm 5"9 and a size 8/10 and I'm a 'large' in Forever 21!! And let's hope the quality of this new line is a little better. I'd like to be able to put their clothes in the washing machine without fear of them disintegrating.

Anyway, this new line will feature items similar to other Forever 21 clothing lines, including flirty dresses, trendy tops, skirts, jeans and basics such as T-shirts, camisoles, tanks and leggings (see above pics for a sample). The target customer is age 15 to 29. Prices will range from $3.80 to $29.80. Look out for the launch later this month. The line will be available in some of the chain’s new or mall locations, but it will not be stocked at the Michigan Avenue flagship store, at least not immediately.

Houston is Simply Stunning

Forbes Traveler just declared the Worlds (13) Most Stunning Skylines. Up there with Sydney, Paris, London and Dubai was the one and only H-town?!?!? Chicka what?!?

"Houston has the Transco Tower and also Pennzoil Place, two towers that kiss,” say New York architects Peter Stamberg and Paul Aferiat. Thanks guys, we like it too. Just one more reason to be proud of our city. H-town rules!

New Items Coming Soon...

As you probably know by now, I am obsessed with Anthropologie. It's not just the merchandise I love, it's the way they display it. I majored in merchandising, did window displays for a number of years and consider myself pretty creative, but I am beyond impressed by the merchandisers for this company. They have just nailed their chic flea market aesthetic to the point that I visit their stores like museums or galleries; scheduling outings to them and taking pictures of all their exhibits. The one in El Segundo has this fantastic table with a canopy decorated with baked bread and fancy cheeses. I want that for my back yard! I also liked this chalkboard wall in their kitchen section.

Marie and Me

I have been M.I.A. (the military term, not the singer) :) the last few days because my best friend Lara and her sweet son came to visit and then we had a heat wave that my little girl didn't handle very well. I haven't had much sleep the last few nights, so I have been a little slow getting things done. Over the weekend I watched Marie Antoinette for the second time. I don't generally buy DVDs, but I had to have this one because the set and costume design in this movie is magnificent! I was even happy to watch the movie without being able to hear portions of it while my husband was vacuuming, of course that could have just been because I was so thankful I was watching a movie while he was cleaning. I love you hubby! I'll leave you with a few pictures for now and I'll try to get going on some catch up posts soon!

Kitchen Relief

What took them so long? Finally, we no longer have to clumsily stack our frying pans on top of each other, which almost always results in a messy avalanche. I just bought an organizer (similar to the one above) from Walmart for $8 bucks, and it is the bomb diggity. If you need some order in your kitchen, it receives the H.W.C. seal of approval! (by the way, if you blog about kitchen supplies does that mean you are getting old?...just curious)

Oopsies...

The Coaster. Always a tricky decor item, skating the line of everything from blah to campy. Yet, the coaster is actually a more crucial design decision than we once thought. It is one of the items in your home most likely to be used by a guest, and thus, it should be memorable. Introducing the coolest coaster of all time. A coaster that looks like..well...an accident. I am definitely going to buy a set, and a maybe a few to keep for "just in case" gifts. The Clumsy Coaster is courtesy of UMA.

Top-sy Turvy

I went to Anthropologie the other day and tried on a few tops. They looked better on the hanger than they did on me. :)

BUY THESE SHOES!!!

Someone needs to buy these shoes! They have been saved in my favorites for a couple months now and they are way too small for me, but so cute! and only $20! I hope someone out there is a 5.5 or 6 and can give them a good home.

What talent lies within our crazy city! Here are my tasty finds for today. These mini masterpieces are from Jewelis Designs, and they rock the hizzy.

EASTER SUNDAY

We had a fantastic Easter! It was so much fun putting an Easter basket together for the little one. I filled it with a a stuffed lamby, vintage book, barrettes, lace trimmed socks and candy. I know she can't eat it yet, but it just wouldn't be an Easter basket without candy, plus I can help her! I found some of the cutest vintage looking Easter candy this year: marshmallow bunnies, pastel tubs of cotton candy and white chocolate bunnies. We all got dressed up for the Easter service and then spent the day celebrating with family.

But if I was going to be in Houston this weekend...

I'd hop over to Crave Cupcakes and have one of these...YUM!

Children's Bookplates

I went to an estate sale today while my parents watched the little one and I found some adorable children's books from the 20's through the 50's. I will try to take some pictures to share with you tomorrow. In the meantime, here are some vintage style bookplates (from Oiseaux) that I am absolutely in love with. I am trying to justify buying some of these because I tend to pass a lot of books onto friends.

Have a Colorful Weekend!

Whether you are dying Easter eggs, or hanging out with these guys, hope you have a vibrant, luminous weekend! I will be spending the weekend in New Orleans, and I plan to party with these boa buddies from beginning to end. Chat with you guys on Monday!
