Since I've been spending a shitton lately on restaurants/shows/outings/concerts, in addition to having picked up snowboarding earlier this year, I've decided to cut back drastically on my clothing budget.  As well, I'm feebly attempting to "find my groove" and stop relying on brands/sizes to guide my "style" (or lack thereof).  However, I've worked immensely hard to re-build my wardrobe post-undergrad so that practically everything is designer (avec compliments from strangers for validation) to throw it all away.  So, I'm proceeding with caution (and I desperately need you, A, to reign me in before I embark upon something tackywacky).

In any case, been wanting a leopard maxi for a while, and measurements on this seem to fit the bill.  Strangely, on independent websites, Glydons seems to sell for a quite a bit.  Anyway, this particular nightie seems a bit long, though I can always hack away at it and have mama-dearest hem it.  Same re: slit/boob area/straps.  Wonder if this'll work . . .

A -- 1/23/11: Aww I actually don't love this!!  I think for a leopard maxi, I'd want it to be of a lighter fabric, less dense looking, maybe something chiffon-ish, w/thinner cami style straps rather than these wider straps.  When I saw this, I thought more "70's porn" than "current chic".

Clearly, this is going to be an incredibly verbose post, full of the minutea of my mood/surroundings/movements/etc when I made this purchase, but first, a more basic expression:

Okay.  So.

I cannot believe I finally have my leopard coat that I have been searching FOREVER for.  You know, if forever meant three months, one of which I wasn't actually searching for it.  Whatever.  It is just so very utterly perfect, the physical manifestation of all my leopardcoat desires.  The material, print, length, fit, even depth of color, is just all so perfect, it's like I imagined it into being.  And of course, the piece de resistance - ONLY FORTY BUCKS.  Topshop and stupid trendyEbayers bidding every leopard thing up to $200+ can SUCK IT.*

I already practically want to live in it - is it outside the realm of sanity to envision myself lounging around the house wearing a big fauxleopard coat, only partly ironically?  I don't even care that this "trend" is partly over; I shall wear/flaunt it joyously anyway, despite the heaps of derision I am almost certain I will receive from friends who (like you, T) are unused to me wearing anything quite so out there.  How funny that in the end, it was yet again Forever21 to the rescue - how did I not think to turn to my original love??  Ahh F21, I shall never forsake thee again!

T, 1/4/11: Dear A, I'll never doubt you again.  As we discussed, I didn't think you'd ever get your leopard, since all your ebay auctions went for $100+ for dirty, ratty things, and you held steadfast to your max.  But, you found something beautiful, soft, and perfect, for waaaay under anything you previously showed me.  If eBay didn't block bidder IDs, you should email those who bid on dirty/ratty leopards a link to this . . . it's amazing.  I am sooooo proud of you!!!  Paired w/ OTK boots, you are sooo T/E!  Def the best find of 2011; it'll be hard to top.

Loved right away when I saw these (and they're sold by goodwill in SF, too!), but then noticed the big bald patch on the back of the heel (kind of like seeing a really hot guy who's losing his hair up top).  Whoever wore these must've f*ed up these shoes pretty badly, because the calf hair on my Stuart Weitzman flats have kept nicely, even under regular wear.  Since S&H is pretty pricey, and I don't really need another pair of heels, prob wouldn't go higher than $20ish, despite my yearning for my first pair of choos.  I'm sure this'll go for more than that, though.

A -- 12/17/10: Yah I'm not sure I'd get these at all, seeing as how the back is so messed up.  Unless they can be repaired, in which case yah, def go for it.  The color for some reason seems a lil off to me, duller than I'd want/expect leopard print...iono...

Not the typical leopard print, but I kinda like that it's furrier.  I think the "vintage" sizing was less vanity, since the measurements seem ok (I'm assuming armpit to armpit means the biggest part of the chest, since bra size refers to beneathboobs, which would be many inches smaller right?  As in, if I'm 36, I'd have to add like 4"-5" for the actual widest part of the chest, which is like 41".  Plus an inch or two for the fabric itself since it looks thick.  So 44" seems ok?  Anyway...)  I like the length too.  There's a button missing, and I'd get rid of the ropes or whatever that is, but those aren't a big deal.  What do you think?

T, 10/21/10:  Like the korea snow bunny, it's actually not bad!  Cheaper for a leopard coat, too, from the links you've sent me.  This one looks like it's meant to hang looser too, since it fans out like a cape.  I don't mind the ropes either.  What do you think about the price?

Showed you think before - it's pretty and leopardyetclassy, but some downsides.  Description says there are some slight "picks" in the fabric that can't be picked up by the camera, that worries me, since it's silk.  Also, I'm wary of getting leopard stuff, I kind of just want the coat, wasn't really wanting/planning on anything else.  This is so much a "nighttime" top, I dono how much wear I'd get out of it.  Altho I guess at that price, it doesn't matter as much.  I wish it were $20 including shipping.

T, 10/18/10: Like!  Can definitely wear it as a day top!  It's not trashy, lol.  My uber old express silk top (gosh, prob 6-7yrs old now?) has picks in it too (it's also 100% silk), and sometimes it bothers me, but no one can see . . .
