Dereon Fall 2008

Beyonce's second line Dereon has released a video with a preview to the Fall 2008 Collection. Though I'm not a big fan of either of her lines (House of Dereon and Dereon), I thought the video was worth sharing. Let me know your thoughts and if any of you have bought items from her collections what are they like? I must admit that they are some cute dresses on the House of Dereon site but none of them are less than $300 :(

The infamous hoody from Beyonce’s latest video ‘Irreplaceable,’ is sold out on Dereon.com. Since Bey wore it in the video and to a couple of TV appearances the site and stores haven’t been able to keep any in stock. This has prompted opportunistic individuals to sell their brand new, original Dereon Hoodies for up to and above $200! Peep this bid on ebay, already at $260.

One man from Boston tracked the last hoody down to a mall in Akron(?) He is offering any willing volunteer with time on their hands and an appreciation for Beyonce’s fine craftsmanship, to head to the mall, pick up said hoody, and ship it to him in Boston. PRONTO. Of course, volunteers will be fully reimbursed and receive an extra $100 for their efforts!

I have no idea what the original price was, but you can get these other two hoodies from Forever 21 and Karma Loop for much cheaper. Granted they don’t have fur lining the inside, but I think you’ll survive!

So the Knowles' are dipping their fingers into yet another pot. Their latest business endeavour involves the unvailing of their new line Dereon. Now don't panic. This is a younger and supposedly more hip version of the parent line House of Dereon. Taking a casual-chic approach, the site features hoodie jackets, strappy tops, denim jumper suits and more jeans. I'm going to reserve judgement until they put more clothes up, but it looks promising... Visit www.dereon.com to 'critique.'

Have you visited House of Dereon’s site recently? Mama Knowles has recipes up on there! Those of us challenged in the culinary department need not look to Rachel Ray, Jamie Oliver or even Morgan Freeman (?), we can now log on to the HOD “fashion” site and follow the instructions for Creole Gumbo, Spicy Cajun Turkey, Ten Minute Cajun Green Bean Stir-Fry, Stir Fried Cabbage, Candied Yams and Angie’s Peach Cobler. While you’re there peep the kitchen, lounge and closet 3D animations… Am I the only one who doesn’t get it?!

I see mama Knowles has been on the same 'liquid' diet as her daughter! - They both look great, but the clothes are still ugly as hell... who is wearing this stuff?! They must be doing something right beacuse the Style Network is giving them their own show:

The programming and marketing partnership between Style Network, Beyoncé and her mother and partner, Tina Knowles, will feature programming throughout the third and fourth quarter of 2006 about Beyoncé's clothing line, House of Deréon. This will include Uncut: House Of Deréon Featuring Beyoncé & Tina Knowles, a one-hour behind the scenes look at the singer as she prepares to release her new CD and launch her clothing line; House Of Deréon Runway Special, a 30-minute special with fashion show footage; and Everyday Runway with Beyoncé and Tina Knowles.

Apparently "Everyday Runway" is a sweepstakes in which a fan will get to meet Beyonce and Tina and win the entire clothing line. The show will air in the Fall, visit www.stylenetwork.com for listings.

House of Deréon...

First off, isn't 'Deréon' the French word for backside? Oh my bad that's derriere! Anyway, this line has me in two minds... Their jeans are by far their most promising product followed by their shoes. Dress sizes start at size 0 and go all the way up to size 16... another plus with this label, however the House of Deréon's tops, dresses and handbags leave little to be desired, especially at the prices they were originally selling them for. They've since slashed their prices, I suspect they weren't selling many items, but I still think the clothes are not worth their new retail price. In my opinion Beyonce, Tina and her team need to scout some new 'up and coming' designers and work a little more on their designs, nothing new is coming from them and if i'm going to spend $300 on a dress it had better be unique and have a reputable name on its label. Since the fashion house is new i'll give them the benefit of the doubt and wait to see what they come up with next season... To see their line for yourself visit www.houseofdereon.com
