Pink Ribbon and Lollipops

For the final wedding post, I wanted to do a little post on what Ruby wore.  I was so excited when Steve and Camille asked Ruby to be the flower girl.  After finding several vintage dresses in different colors, we landed on this yellow one, which you may remember from my photo shoot for Cakies.  I switched out the black ribbon for pink and it was perfect.  She had a little metal pail for flower petals, but when we couldn't get the kids to walk down, we gave them lollipops and it ended up looking so cute!  My favorite picture from the wedding is the one of Steve and Ruby dancing, it makes my heart melt.

Salvage Life Bride: Mary Jane

My brother Steve asked his lovely girlfriend Camille (one of my best friends and trusty Salvage Life helper) to marry him and she asked me to be her Matron of Honor.  I am so thrilled and I have had weddings on the brain everyday and sometimes in the middle of the night, ever since.  So when I got these enchanting photos from my customer, Mary Jane, of her special day, I was inspired by her down to earth wedding, filled with the people who love her most.

Here's what she said about the dress when she first bought it:
"I've been hunting for a frock for months, haunting Montreal's (distressingly few) vintage clothing shops and trying on so many styles that I've lost both track and heart.   Then I chanced upon your site and experienced one of those heart-stopping moments - the dress looks wonderful!"

A little more about her wedding :
"Persian-Filipino Sunday brunch wedding on Sept 19, 2010 in the little town of Saint-Agnes-de-Dundee, Quebec.   Lovely Indian summer day with 90 of our closest friends and family, many of whom made the 90 min drive from Montreal to be part of our special day!    A short ceremony (many tears!) was followed by refreshments outside where the kiddies ran shrieking through be-ribboned trees while their parents lounged on hay bales and took photos in and around the huge barn nearby.    Then it was on to brunch!  A mix of traditional brunch fare (our Belgian waffle lady was kept very busy indeed) and Persian and Filipino desserts supplied by our families.  My handsome new husband, Sohrab, and I were amazed at how quickly it all flew by.   Before we knew it, the brunch was done, and we scooted out with our photographer to catch sunset on beautiful Lac St-Francois.   It was a truly magical day! "
Thanks so much Mary Jane!  Congratulations!  We wish you and Sohrab the very best!

Vintage Ties, Missed Wedding and Appendicitis

Last month when I was having an emergency appendectomy, I could not stop asking the doctor, surgeon and nurses when I was going to get out of there because I needed to make it to a good friend's wedding.  Well I had my surgery on Friday evening and the wedding was on Saturday evening, so needless to say, I wasn't there.  My friend Jen, of 15 years (wow, has it really been that long?) planned the most amazing vintage style wedding. The kind of wedding I've seen on blogs, but never been so lucky to be a part of.  I had helped Jen out by finding vintage ties for her groom and nine groomsmen, so it was even more disappointing that I couldn't be there to see how it all came together. When I saw the pictures from that day, I felt like I took a little journey there and was pretty excited to see how everything turned out.

Photos were taken by AnneMarie, there are more photos of their special day on her blog.
