Great Chanel Wallet Debate

Measurements: 4 3/4" x 4 1/8"

Starting Bid: $49
Winning Bid: $50, 2 Bids
S&H: $7.90
Ended: October 18, 2010; 6:30PM PST

Always wanted a smaller/thinner, black Chanel wallet. It's real, wonder why no one bid yet.  Pics aren't very flattering, but listing says minimal wear, and as far the pics show, nothing looks *too* worn.  Plus, black hides many wounds.

Ran a Completed Listings search to see if anything sold for around the same price or less:

Measurements: 4.3" x 3.75"

This one, inter alia, popped up as orig listed for $0.99, Buy It Now $125.  Kind of dirty, no one bid, auction ended at $0.99 (didn't see any reserves, either).  Was relisted, sold for $135.  Crazy.

A green one, same type, sold for $43.

Many (incl diff styles) sold for $100ish.  Guess Chanel wallets don't go for astronomical prices like their bags on eBay.

Debatedebatedebate . . .

A -- 10/18/10: Why does the black just not LOOK black?  It looks like some pebbly super worn gray, can that really ALL be attributed to the picturetaking?  The blue color is way prettier, but man it is so dirty it is kinda gross, I wouldn't get something that scruffed up, even a Chanel.  (off topic, but when I first typed that, it was w/a lowercase "c" and I immediately backspaced to change to capital "C", and realized that I capitalize Chanel but not god.  There is totally a hell and it is filled w/crappy clothes)

Back to the point, I think we talked about how weird it is that something can have zero buyers, and then be relisted and sold for a huge price w/dozens of bidders.  Ebay, and I guess all retail, is fickle like that, you just never know.  I think wallets tend to show their wear a lot more than bags too, since there is so much less material.  I bet if u found a classic Chanel quilted wallet in better condition, it would sell for closer to realprice too.

T, 10/18/10: Gray could be attributed to flash.  As for capitalization, I think lowercase "g" is used for deities that aren't the Christian God, and the uppercase "G" is reserved for the Christian God.  So, maybe you're speaking to the clothing god (there has to be a Greek one dedicated to it, right?). :)
