So I texted you FRANTICALLY when I encountered the eBay listing, an hour before it ended.  Saw this dress at Nordies Rack this past summer (which makes sense, because it's "past season" as several blogs deemed it one of the "it" summer dress in 2009).  Lurved it but no sizes, thought Nordies Rack price was decent ($60ish, I think?  It shows up on shopbop as unavailable for $60 too.), always kept an eye out for it since.  But, you brought up excellent points -- the prairie-ness and brand devaluation.  That, coupled with my inability to find my "inspiration" pic (I swear I saw N.Richie wear a similar small floral patterned maxi), sigh . . . I didn't end up bidding.  Auction ended with no bids.  Emailed seller hoping s/he'll settle for $30, and left it just as that, didn't mention shipping.  We'll see if I get a response.

T, 11/22/10 -- seller said s/he'd take $6 off.  I replied, so if that's $39 and includes shipping, that'd be perfect.  Hope this works!

T, 11/23/10 -- seller agreed to $40, including S&H!  So, about 20% discount.  I always hope when auctions end without bids, sellers will agree to huge reductions, but I guess that's not reasonable . . . small discounts prob work better.

A -- 11/23/10: CONGRATS!!!  I love when we get to add to the "bought" tag.  It really speaks to our devotion/insanity that when I got home from the gym last night and checked my phone, seeing ur FRANTIC msgs excited me to the point that I went online and asked for the link before I even showered.  Or maybe I am just gross.  I think the end result was reasonable, not "best deals ever", but v. good esp considering ur love.  Plus, you came out winning on principle - I love that emailing after the auction ended worked; I'm glad you waited.

ps.  Who the hell is commenting that this is "highway robbery"??  Tell your friends to stop mocking us, I <3 our blog!!!

T, 11/23/10:  After I provided paypal info, seller wrote:  "Yes, glad it all worked out for you because I have had a few people wanting to buy it once it ended. But, you were the very first! Happy Thanksgiving to you =)"  Guess other ppl do what we do . . . does this make us expert eBayers?  Wonder what others offered.

T, 11/30/10:  Received yesterday at work, tried it on over my work clothes (turtleneck layered underneath the blk/gray dvf, worn in honor of the auction (linked), since I got mine for under half of what it went for).  Looked hideous, was sorely disappointed.  Tried it on again at home, sans all the layers, and immediately loved -- I can adjust the straps to make it more or less hoebaggy, cross them, not cross them, tie them in the front/back, etc.  I hemmed the length "hs style" -- remember when ppl used to tuck their jeans in and then staple them, no cutting involved?  I tucked in the hem about 6 inches, and sewed it there in four diff places -- that should hold it for a while until I wash it and see if it shrinks.  (I can tell I'll be wearing this a lot because out of all my maxis, only this is machine washable and looks less formal.  Love.)  If it stays the same length, I'll prob secure the hs-hem by sewing it in place in four more places.  Whew, that was long . . . this is like a clothing diary!

T, 12/7/10:  Washed/dried -- it did shrink, just not enough.  Ended up getting annoyed and cutting the bottom, since it already didn't have a hem.  Didn't cut evenly (though it's hard to really tell, since it's a maxi), and left enough room so that I can get it tailored/evened out.  Will wear this Fri to concert, I think. :)

T, 12/27/10:  Holy shit, washed/dried again, and the damn thing shrank some more.  Last time I cut it, I left ample room, in case I wanted to get it tailored.  I shouldn't have cut it at all -- it's now a good amt above the ground.  Will stop drying it in the dryer . . .
